Rancho Santa Fe

Welcome to Rancho Santa Fe

The exclusive community of Rancho Santa Fe features some of San Diego’s most beautiful and expansive properties, there's a good reason the area regularly lands on national top ten lists of places to live. There are few other places in the country where you’ll find such a mix of luxury, scenery, and amazing weather.

Rancho Santa Fe has a rich history. Rarely has so much thought and care been put into ensuring the character and development of a community. Much of the area was designed and planned by architect Lillian Rice in the early twentieth century. In 1928, the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe was established to preserve the landscape and design aesthetics of the homes here.

Although it is located only a few miles inland from the beach and north of more urban areas, “The Ranch” (as residents call it), prides itself on its rural feel. Homes sit off winding country roads, and properties have large lots with lush landscaping. Lillian Rice’s influence is still felt today, with many homes designed in her signature style.

The Rancho Santa Fe lifestyle is both upscale and country at once. Residents enjoy a world-class golf club (where former homeowner Bing Crosby once partied and played) and an exclusive country club. Horses are part of the lifestyle too, with miles of trails throughout the community, and the famous Del Mar Racetrack nearby.

Although largely low-density and quiet, Ranch Santa Fe does have a town center with shops, boutiques, and restaurants where locals pick up the basics. The village center was designed in 1922 and also features a post office, historic inn, and library.
