Pacific Beach

Welcome to Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach is a study in contrasts, from the lively business area where local college students frequent busy restaurants, to the quiet hills above where young families and retirees enjoy the views and sunny San Diego living.

"PB" residents can hop on beach cruisers and head south to Mission Bay for paddleboarding, make their way down to the ocean for tanning, or go north for world-class surfing. While it is easy to find quiet streets for walking or parks for beachside yoga, the area also has many restaurants, clothing boutiques, grocery stores, and bars, which makes getting the essentials or enjoying a night out easy.

The summer brings an influx of visitors to Pacific Beach, but locals enjoy an outdoor lifestyle year-round. Surfing, running, and biking are all popular hobbies with plenty of spots to enjoy the weather. One of the most treasured is Kate Sessions Park, where couples picnic and take in the spectacular views of the ocean and downtown.

Despite the tourists, students, and visitors, Pacific Beach has a strong sense of community. Several volunteer groups help keep the area clean, and local events, like the Fourth of July, bring single people, young families, and longtime residents together.

Pacific Beach homes are as varied as the residents, from classic beach bungalows to larger estates. Although traditionally more laidback and affordable than neighboring La Jolla, Pacific Beach has recently been attracting a more affluent crowd of young professionals, especially in the north.
